Post-Election Deliberative Dialogue: A Facilitated Processing Space
The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement’s Deliberative Dialogue Post-Election Committee is hosting a facilitated space for students to process the election through structured dialogue. During the event, students will have the opportunity to discuss the election and the state of American democracy while also listening to and learning from the perspectives of other students. The space will be an exercise in effective listening and thoughtful communication across difference. Students will be in breakout rooms to encourage intentional dialogue and connection in a small group. There will be a trained facilitator in every group who will use a series of questions to guide the conversation. The first event will occur via Zoom on November 11 at 5 pm CT. Any students who are interested in participating can RSVP here. Please reach out to Ingrid Anderson and Andrew Reeves, the Deliberative Dialogue Committee co-chairs, or to Lindsay Gassman, Voter Engagement Fellow, if you have any questions. The event is co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science, John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics, Arts and Sciences, Clark-Fox Policy Institute, and Student Union.
