Professor Amy Pond has been selected for the prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The fellowship is similar to the Fulbright Fellowship in the US and was created by the German government to "foster collaborations between German researchers and researchers located outside Germany." The fellowship funds research stays of between six and 24 months.
In order to apply for the fellowship, scholars must propose a research project and obtain a nomination from a host professor working in Germany. Pond's research looks to unpack how businesses influence public policy, how essential market structure is for this influence, and the role political stability plays overall. Her host will be Professor Davide Cantoni, a professor of Economics and Economic History at the Department of Economics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Munich). The fellowship will begin in March 2026.
The Humboldt Fellowship will follow Pond's work on a separate fellowship at the Cluster of Excellence on Inequality at the University of Konstanz in January and February 2026. The cluster describes the fellowship as:
"With our Senior Fellows program, we intend to bring additional expertise and international experience to Konstanz. Therefore, our Senior Fellows are researchers from outside the University of Konstanz with an established track record and international visibility, as well as a keen interest in the Cluster’s concepts and lines of research. They usually come to Konstanz for a stay of two to six months. Senior Fellows are full members of the Cluster and participate in our activities."
